Mr. Payton was a fantastic person, I knew him to be fair and quick witted. He lived life to the fullest for the time I knew him. He made a great impression on me as a youngster and I can still see his face today as he took the time to answer any questions. RIP

I had the privilege of growing up on Ruskin Street and having Al as my neighbor during my childhood years. The Payton family-and Al in particular-brought the residents of Loisdale Estates both a sense of security and a touch of adventure.

Al took it upon himself to keep our neighborhood safe. He was always on the lookout for cars exceeding the 20 mph speed limit and never hesitated to march down his driveway, raise his hand, and question drivers about whether they understood the speed limit. He became the unofficial Ruskin Street safety patrol, keeping a watchful eye on unfamiliar pedestrians, drivers, and any suspicious activity.

Beyond his vigilant nature, Al had a fun and fascinating side. He spent countless hours outside, fully engaged in his many hobbies-whether working on his beautifully equipped van with the latest gadgets, tinkering with his boat and motorcycles, or watching Lisa and me try to perfect our shots on his basketball court. His dry sense of humor always kept me on my toes, as I never quite knew when he was joking.

Al´s home was a reflection of his meticulous nature-impeccably organized and well-manicured, with everything always in its place.

Thank you, Al, for the wonderful childhood memories. You will be deeply missed.
