I met Al when I was just 17. I was already an "interesting" case to him and help helped me through my health issues and injuries so I could keep playing the sports I loved. I am 59 now and the only reason I am still here is because of him. He was a great doctor, friend, counselor, and straight man to all my joking around. He is truly missed and my heart goes out to Rose and his family who lost him way too soon.

My sincerest condolences and heartfelt prayers for the Pedicino family.

I was a patient of Dr. Pedicino for decades, and we enjoyed a mutual affection for Cardinal Dougherty High School and youth sports. Even after moving out of the area 30 years ago, I still made annual appointments with Dr. Pedicino's practice at Holy Redeemer Hospital because I knew the quality of care, personal consideration, and straight talk I'd receive. He always remembered the names of my parents and siblings. It was not a doctor appointment for me, it was a visit with a friend, who like any other, had my genuine interests at heart.

I am grateful to him and there were none like him. I am terribly saddened by your loss. Your obituary was beautifully written. Thank you for sharing him with me.

I met Dr Pedicino in 1987 when my grandfather had a massive stroke. He was rushed into Holy Redeemer and I was given a couple of names of doctors on that day and told to pick one. God was truly guiding me when I picked him. We stayed under his care until he retired. He would speak Italian with my grandparents and joke back and forth with them. Always putting them at ease. It wasn´t easy especially with my grandmother, a true Calabrese woman. I´ll never forget the day he did rounds in the hospital and she wasn´t there. He called me and said , "where is your grandmother?" I said she is sitting here with me having lunch. He said, "what is she doing there she should be in the hospital." But she signed herself out because she had enough. Through the years we got to see him grow into an amazing physician. Not only skilled but his bedside manners were impeccable. That is something so overlooked in the medical profession but so vital and important. My prayers to his family for strength to move forward. May they always keep his memory alive. And may God grant His servant eternal peace and happiness as he spent his life here serving others. We will miss you Doc!

This is soo sad! I have been a patient to Dr. Pedicino for 30 years. He called me Schwemmer-man lol. He was more of a friend than a doctor. I could tell him anything. I kept asking him when are you gonna retire and his response was "why you want me to retire", No but you need to enjoy life. When he finally announced retirement, I tried hard to get an appointment before that so I could say goodbye and to tell him to enjoy a well deserved retirement!! I was sad that didn´t happen. Had I known of his passing I would have surely been there to say my goodbyes! RIP my friend, thank you for many years of care and friendship! My condolences to the entire family, stay strong. He spoke of you all often on my visits. Prayers!!

Although I haven´t seen Al for over 13 years, the news of his passing was a tremendous shock. Often I have reminisced about our wonderful trips to South Bend for Notre Dame games in addition to the trips to North Jersey, Baltimore, and Penn State to support the Irish football. Also there are memories of Friday night Pizza our families shared together. Al Pedicino was a special man who loved his wife and children above all else but was also very kind and considerate of others. My thoughts are with Rose, Nicole, Michael, Mathew and Nicky at a very difficult time.

Dr Pedicino was my Dr for what seems like most my life. He listened, gave advice, made fun of me, made me laugh and feel comfortable. He also treated me for whatever I was dealing with. He was a one of kind person/Dr. I am sorry for your loss and prayers to the whole family. He was more then a Dr to me and my family.

I married into the Pedicino family (married to Al´s niece, Maureen) and, as a result, I knew Dr. Pedicino simply as Maureen and John´s "Uncle Al." I always enjoyed our time together at family gatherings. Our friendly, sometimes pointed banter was a highlight - I´m a La Salle HS grad and he was, rightfully, a fierce SJP supporter.

Over the past few days, I´ve come to learn about a whole new side of Al, and I´ve been blown away by his impact as a physician. It´s clear he was deeply beloved by his patients and colleagues alike. What a remarkable legacy. I´ll be sure to honor it by making sure my kids grow up hearing stories about their mom´s legendary Uncle Al.

I was blessed to have Dr. Pedicino care for four generations of my family. My mother, my husband and I, my daughters, and my granddaughters have all benefited by his compassionate care. In addition, he was a gifted diagnostician and was able to quickly access our symptoms and direct us to proper treatment. We were sad that he left us for retirement, but happy that he was taking time for himself and Rose. We are all heartbroken that he is no longer here.

What a great guy. A true friend in every sense, a consummate professional, a caring doctor and man. The world is different without Al and not for the better. I have been reading so many wonderful things written about Al's being a doctor, a colleague, a caregiver, a friend, a family man, a father, and a husband. He had so many good qualities it is no wonder that we feel his loss as we do. I'll finish as I started, what a great guy that Al Pedicino was. Requiescat in pace!

Al was the Best Man at my wedding and the Godfather to my daughter Noelle. Whenever he was present, you could feel the warmth from his smile. He loved helping people and he was a great physician. But more importantly, he was a dear friend to George. They went to college and medical school together and formed a lasting bond. He will be greatly missed but know we have an angel who has God's ear. Love, Eileen Romanzo

I was a colleague of Dr. Pedicino's at Holy Redeemer for many years, and am saddened to hear of his untimely passing. He reminded me of Marcus Welby, M.D. - unfailingly kind, generous and caring. May his memory be for a blessing. He will be sorely missed.

Rose and family,
Our hearts are broken for you all. John and I were both patient's of Dr. Pedicino. My mom was one of his first when he opened his practice, Nicole was a baby I think. Our whole family started to join the practice and then I brought John in before we married, 40 years ago.
Dr. Pedicino was not just a doctor, he felt like your friend. He took a real interest in his patients and worked tirelessly, for us, to solve medical mysteries, never giving up, working on the weekend, always there. I miss those impromptu calls when he would call me to discuss a new direction.
Dr. Pedicino was a beloved, caring man and doctor. We can not find another like him and haven't yet. We miss him terribly but not more than you and your children and grandchildren do. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and we will never forget the man and doctor that he was.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Pedicino. He was far more than our family doctor- he was a trusted guide, a steady presence, and a dear friend to our entire family.
For decades, he cared for us with unwavering compassion, wisdom, and dedication. His kindness and gentle strength were especially evident in the care he gave to our mother. His support through her most vulnerable moments will never be forgotten. He was truly a guardian of our family´s well-being, both physically and emotionally.
Dr. Pedicino leaves behind a legacy of service, humanity, and love that has touched generations. We are forever grateful for the light he brought into our lives, and he will always remain in our hearts. Rest easy doc.

I have known Al since St Joe's College Class 1971and Jefferson Med Class 1975 . I was on staff at Holy Redeemer with him 1979-1982. Dr Al was conscientious , caring , dedicated to and beloved by his patients. His pleasant disposition and cheerful personality endeared him to all. I can not recall anyone ever making a negative comment about him. He was loved and respected by those who knew him. He and Rose were so devoted to each other that you would refer to them as "AlnRose" because they were as one. He was a devoted exemplary husband , father , and family man. His memory will forever be an inspiration and consolation to his children and grandchildren. I was privileged to have known him.

Dr. Pedicino was one in a million. He was "old school" and it was so rare & so great. He was my Dr. for 45 years. He treated my grandparents, my Mom, and many other family members. You always knew how much he loved his family, being a doctor, God and the Phillies...and hated computers! He really listened and was kind & funny, always. I was so sad when he retired, but so happy for him & his family. I wish he had more time to enjoy his retirement. He surely is with the angels now...thank you Dr Pedicino for being the "BEST". Rose and your whole family are in my prayers. Ps I hope there are no computers in heaven.

I first met Al in 1967 , our first week at St Joseph´s College when we started the Pre Med program . We studied together over the next 8 years first at St Joes then another 4 years at Jefferson Medical College.
Al was my best man in my marriage to Eileen and was my son Brian´s God father . We had a close relationship over almost 60 years . I´m devastated by the loss of a wonderful friend who I loved as a brother. I will always remember him for his intellect, compassion and total lack of any pretense in his life . My heart goes out to Rose , his wonderful children and grandchildren . It is difficult to accept the death of someone who had such a large presence in life . His patients adored him because he always treated them with professionalism, empathy and respect.
God Bless Al and the Pedicino Family

In 1979 after taking time off to be with our young children, I returned to work at Holy Redeemer. I was looking for a family physician and asked several fellow nurses who they would recommend. Every single one answered with the same name, Dr. Pedicino!
That in itself is quite a testament to him. Having "Dr. P" as our physician for nearly 45 years was a true blessing. In addition to his excellent clinical skills, he showed a great deal of kindness & compassion throughout our long time together. Shortly after Dr. Pedicino retired, Alan, my husband of nearly 54 years died. Shortly thereafter my home phone rang. When I answered I heard Dr. P´s voice, expressing his condolences and asking how I was doing. He had a way of lifting me up, even in my hardest times. As I write I have no doubt there is a huge reunion going on in heaven with all the patients he cared for and who loved him, including Alan, celebrating his life and welcoming him home.
My deepest condolences go out to Rosemarie and all of the family he so deeply loved.

My heart is broken. He was a friend, a confidante, a cheerleader and always the best family doctor around. The world lost a good one. To quote my son, "He was a legend." My love and heartfelt condolences to the Pedicino Family. I am praying for all of you.

Dr. Pedicino was truly a Family Physician. I knew him for 45 years as a nurse and as a patient. He always reminded me of a caring, kind, and excellent old time country doctor. As physicians once did, he too hung out his beautiful traditional wood shingle "Alexander R.Pedicino MD" . It hung on the wall of his 301 waiting room. He was a traditional doctor. He knew his patients, not only their medical problems but he knew them by their first name, he knew their likes and dislikes, he knew their professions, he knew about their families, he knew about them. He was a philly sports fan and loved to talk about the Eagles and Phillies with his patients. A fan of the computer he was not, and as he said it was not going to stop him from being the kind of physician he wanted to be, a Family Doctor, who knew his patients and their families. Thank you Dr Pedicino. God bless you and your family. I am certain that in heaven God has welcomed you and hung a wooden shingle outside a beautiful mansion reserved for you "Alexander R. Pedicino MD"

Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Pedicino.

He was more than just a doctor; he was a steadfast presence in our lives for over four decades. My parents were among his very first patients when he started his practice at Holy Redeemer, as was my paternal grandmother.

My recent years bringing my mother to her appointments after my father's passing allowed me to see his wonderful spirit up close again. His big smile, warm hug, and calling us by name instantly made us feel cared for. My mother, in particular, absolutely adored him and looked forward to every visit. His kindness, gentleness, and compassion made him a truly exceptional doctor and person.

His retirement was difficult for my mother, a testament to the strong bond he forged with his patients. We will miss him terribly and send our deepest condolences to his family and colleagues.
