Alexander Renteria Rodriguez - age 79 of Kansas City, MO, passed away Sunday morning, August 17, 2025, at Pleasant Valley Manor Care in Pleasant Valley, MO. Alex was born on October 10, 1945, the son of Lucio and Nativida (Renteria) Rodriguez in Houston, TX. Alex was of the Catholic faith, although he had been baptized as a Baptist out of his love for his wife, Bertha. He moved to Kansas City in 1993 and married Bertha Burks on March 17th, 2001. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for over 30 years. His family and his cat, Cheddar, were extremely important to him. Alex was ornery, lovable, and enjoyed arguing. He was a fan of the Chiefs, Royals, Astros, and Texans. Alex, his stubbornness, and big heart will be dearly missed.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Bernadette Rodriguez, and sister, Helen Gonzalez. He is survived by his wife, Bertha; children, Erica & Alexia; grandchildren Elizabeth, Matthew, John, Kristin, Linda, Wesley, & Lucas; great-grandchildren Emily, Mayuko, Elaine, Benjiro, AJ, Cecilia, Noah, Kamila, Alexandria, & CJ; siblings, Eva, Mary, & Fred; and a host of other friends and family.

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Alex's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 29, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home in Lathrop. There is no scheduled visitation.
