Southbridge: Alexandra J. "Sandra" Petro, 87, of Therese Ave., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 11th, in UMass Memorial Hospital, Memorial Campus, Worcester, due to complications from Diabetes.

Sandra leaves her four nephews, William Petro, Ronald Petro and his wife Stacy, Joseph Petro and Gregory Petro; her three nieces, Nelda Walker Wendt and her husband, Gary, Christine Cloutier, Judith Sobieski and a cousin, Christie Lazo and his partner, Patty, as well as many extended family members.

She was predeceased by her two brothers, Andrew Petro and his wife, Alexandra and Lazaraq Petro and his wife, Patricia; four cousins, Sammi Lazo and his wife Sally, Michael Lazo, Harry Lazo and James Lazo.

Sandra was a doting second mom to her nephew, Ron Petro and his wife Stacy, her cousin, Suzi Lazo and her two sons, Payton and Andrew Kallanian.

Sandra was born in Southbridge on May 16, 1938, the only daughter of the late Sifi Petro Kita and Marika (Dhimitri) Petro.

She was very proud of her Albanian heritage, all of her Petro and Lazo family members who make up the Kita clan and her lifelong church, St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church.

Sandra was a longtime member of the church choir and The Daughters of St. Nicholas women's club, which Sandra served for many years as its vice president. She enjoyed helping the women's club baking lakror and many other Albanian foods, as well as helping with the annual church yard sale. Sandra was a hairdresser at Allan's Hairstyling for many years, retiring in 2001.

A Funeral Service for Sandra will be held on Wednesday, February 18th at 11:00am in the St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church, 126 Morris St., Southbridge. A calling hour in the church will be held on Wednesday, February 18th from 10:00am to 11:00am prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Southbridge.

The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.

In lieu of flowers donation can be made to The Daughters of St. Nicholas, 126 Morris St., Southbridge, MA 01550.
