Robin Beth Petro

CHARLESTOWN - Robin Beth Petro passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Her interests were varied and numerous. She loved poetry and art and had many poems published in small press formats. She organized five delightful art openings in the Westerly Library and in Mystic, Connecticut. Her topics were often about places and people she met in her travel cross country and much of Central America and the Caribbean. She spent one summer in Guatemala and became quite fluent in Spanish which she called the most beautiful language. She earned a masters degree in plant and soil sciences. The gardens she designed and grew attracted visitors across the neighborhood. Her favorite flowers were agapanthus, birds of paradise and English roses. She also served as a VISTA volunteer, helping people acquire better housing. But the single most adventurous endeavor was the publication of the whole Rhode Island Catalogue, Vol I and II. It was so successful she bought her first computer and one of the first computers on the market, the Osborne. She will be missed.
