It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alexandros (Alex) Kolokithas, a beloved husband, father, and proud papou, who departed this life peacefully at the age of 84 on August 14, 2025.

Born in Athens, Greece, Alex traveled the world as a captain with the Merchant Marines. His journeys led him to Vancouver Canada, where he met his beloved wife Mollie. Together, they married and settled in Alexandria, Louisiana, building a beautiful family and welcoming three children into their lives.

In 1987, Alex and Mollie relocated their family to Tarpon Springs, Florida, a small Greek town, to be closer to his Greek heritage. Mollie was a driving force in Alex's life, family, and businesses.

Alex was a dedicated American citizen, he embraced his identity as a Greek American, exemplifying the true American Dream. As successful entrepreneurs, Alex and Mollie opened several Greek and American restaurants in Alexandria, Louisiana, and Tarpon Springs, Florida, where their culinary expertise and warm hospitality made their establishments gathering places for friends and family, where laughter and love flourished.

Together, Alex and Mollie became a pioneering force in the casino boat industry, establishing Sun Cruz Casino Ships on the west coast of Florida. Their ventures made them beloved legends in Port Richey for nearly 30 years. Alex was admired not just for his business acumen but also for his generosity and willingness to help those in need.

Alex had a passion for telling stories about his life in Greece, Louisiana, and throughout Florida, as well as his travels around the world as a ship captain. He had a special way of sharing these tales that captivated everyone around him, always able to turn even the simplest moment into an unforgettable adventure. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, always radiating a gleam in his eye and a smile on his face when they were in the room.

After Mollie's passing in 2015, Alex worked hard to take care of his family, showing unwavering dedication. He often reminded them, "Family is everything," instilling this value deeply in his children and grandchildren. Now, he is reunited with Mollie in heaven.

Alex is survived by his son, Basilius Kolokithas, and two daughters, Anastasia Falcone, her husband, Mark Falcone, and Alexcia Gilchrist, her husband Bryan Gilchrist and His brother, Nikoloas Kolokithas. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Basilius Kolokithas, Alexandros Falcone, and Samantha Falcone, along with four beautiful great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed by his family, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
