Alexis M. Peters, age 45 years, a resident of Pinellas Park, Florida, departed this life Sunday, October 6, 2013 in Florida as a result of a diabetic coma. She was born Saturday, November 4, 1967 at Elkins, WV, a daughter of David Peters and wife Diana, of Elkins and Patricia Rigsbee and husband David of Knoxville, TN. Allie Marie, as she was known, is survived by her maternal grandmother, Imogene Phillips, of Memphis, TN, formerly of Pumpkintown, WV; a sister, Anita Birchfield and husband Adam, Knoxville, TN; a brother, Matt Peters, of Elkins; uncles, Rex Peters and wife Ruth, Bridgewater, VA; Jim Phillips, Memphis, TN; aunts, Sharon Ward and husband Jim, Norton; Brenda Phillips, Memphis, TN; Judy Whetzel, OR; several cousins, Sara Ward; Cheryl Gottschall; Brian Ward; Hank Ward; David Whetzel and their families; as well as her faithful companion, her dog, Tsarania. Preceding her in death are her paternal grandparents, Madelyn and Paul Peters; maternal grandfather, James Phillips and uncles, Johnny Phillips and Harry Whetzel. Alexis worked as an office manager for Marie County, of Clearwater, Florida. She loved to follow the Iditarod races, having formed a group of followers called the "Iditapeeps." She enjoyed watching Florida, Tennessee, and WVU football games. Her favorite NASCAR driver was Jeff Gordon. Returning to West Virginia for the Forest Festival and visiting the Ward farm were also enjoyable to her. Alexis was a wonderful daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. Always willing to help out anyone in need, she was "one in a million." Alexis will be missed by many. Alexis' wish for cremation will be honored. The Moss Feaster Guardian Chapel is in charge of the arrangements and entombment will be at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park.
