Alfonce Supak Obituary

Alfonce Joe Supak, age 83, a devout Christian and proud member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat, Texas, returned to God on August 29, 2025.

He was born on August 31, 1941, to Louis and Leona Supak. Sonny, as he was lovingly called by his siblings and other relatives, grew up in Deanville, Texas.

He learned the value of hard work during his childhood through farming and ranching. He worked hard in the fields alongside his parents at an early age being he was the oldest son. Many hours were spent harvesting crops and cutting wood for the winter.

While not in the fields working, he attended school in Deanville and then Caldwell ISD where he graduated in 1960.

Upon graduation A.J. went to work for Jimmy Brinkman and then later went to work in Houston. He worked in several positions and eventually retired as a welder from the City of College Station.

He met and married the love of his life, Linda June Schoenberg, on June 15, 1963, at Holy Rosary Church in Frenstat by Father George Tydlacka. They were married for 39 wonderful years and raised three children, Denise, Michael and Mark, on the Schoenberg Homestead in Lyons, Texas.

Although he enjoyed fishing, hunting and Aggie sports, his favorite role was that of being a grandfather to his six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He especially enjoyed family gatherings where he could be sure to savor an array of holiday food, particularly from the dessert table. His sisters, in particular, were fantastic cooks.

A.J. had a servant's heart. He was gracious and always wanted to offer a helping hand. He loved his church and people. He interacted with them in various ways over the years. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

After his retirement, one of A.J.'s favorite pastimes was traveling with his many friends. Many friendships were made along the way while cruising around the country and seeing God's handiwork. He enjoyed Alaska most of all.

He was preceded in death by his loving bride, Linda; his parents, Louis and Leona Supak; his wife's parents, John and Thelma Schoenberg; brother and sister-in-law, Bille Sue and Frank Surovik; sister, Elizabeth Yendrey; brothers-in-law, Bill Woodward, Jimmy Yendrey, Glen Spitzenberger, Kenny Cockroft; his nephew, Vance Schoeneman; and niece Melynda (Rayna) Yendrey.

Known as a kind man who always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger, A.J. leaves behind a multitude of friends and family. He is survived by his children, Denise Anderson (Ronnie), Michael (Krissa) and Mark (Ruth); grandchildren, John Michael (Whitney) and their children, Lane, Lily June, and Ivy; Lindsay (Austin) and their children, Bailey and Caleb; Kaylee (Dustin); and Justin (Sierra); Marian (Cole); and Andrew; his siblings, Del Woodward, Marie Spitzenberger, Anthony Supak, Dolly Schoeneman (Irvin), Gladys Cockroft, Ray Supak (Cathy), Cynthia Martinez (Adrian), Donna Jatzlau (Tommy); and his very special friends, Charlie and Verna Ann Jozwiak.

Although he met the Jozwiaks later in life, he and Mr. Charlie spent countless hours drinking coffee and swapping stories on life. He will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 6–7 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:30 p.m.

A commemorative Mass will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat with graveside burial following.

He was an avid Aggie fan, so join the family in wearing Aggie maroon in his memory.

Donations may be made in his memory to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or Somerville V.F.D., P.O. Box 537, Somerville, Texas 77879.
