Alfonse Cardaropoli Obituary

Alfonse G. Cardaropoli
1957 - 2025
South Hadley
Alfonse G. Cardaropoli passed away on January 20, 2025 at the age of 67. Born on July 10, 1957 in Springfield, MA he was the son of the late Ralph Cardaropoli and Jean (Yelle) Cardaropoli. Al graduated from Cathedral High School and went on to a long career at the U.S Postal Service where he was proud of his many accomplishments and promotions. As a young adult, Al treasured the years of bowling and playing bocce alongside his father in numerous local leagues. He played the drums in several local bands from the time he was a teenager, and when he retired from playing, he enjoyed listening to and supporting local blues bands. Al was an avid foodie and gardener and after retirement took great joy in honing his cooking and baking skills or scouting local nurseries for something new to put in the garden. Always one to take the scenic route, stop to smell the roses, and explore places off the beaten path, Al found beauty and wonder in the world around him and invited those he was with to share that with him. He will be remembered for his warmth and wit, his easy-going demeanor, steadfast support and generous spirit.
He leaves his wife, Pauline, daughter Cezza, bonus daughters Lauren and Jenae, sister Linda and nephew Alex. Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Services are private. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, or the family encourages you to plant a flower in your garden for the pollinators. We met at Two Guys where we both worked as young men. Al was a funny guy and we spent a fair amount of time hanging at Jai Alai, hiking, bowling. I have some great memories. Once we picked bucketfuls of cherries from his tree at his Dad's house on Johnson St. RIP Alphonse. If you see Danni from Jai Alai, remember he owes us money.

Class of Cat High 1975. We maintained our friendship for several years but went along our way. It´s not surprising so many if his coworkers respected him. So many of us have great memories of Forest Park, music and high school shenanigans with Al. Much love to his family

Al and I kept in touch mostly by text over the last several years and he was always finding and sending me old pictures of our grandparents, parents, and in this one, a picture of him with Linda holding me as a baby. I love that he had such an interest in our family history and grateful he shared it with me. Al will be missed for sure. My heartfelt condolences to Polly, Linda, Alex and his other family members and friends.

Sad to hear of Al's passing. Way too young. I'll always hold fond memories of playing music with him, bowling with him, and working on his house years ago. My condolences to his family.

Al was one of many great supervisors/MDOs I had the privilege of working for. He also brought his love of bowling to the Employee Association where he sponsored outings at the former Airway Lanes every February school vacation. May he rest in peace.

So very sorry to hear this sad news.
I met Al when we were both teenagers at Cathedral. He was part of our group of friends who'd spend our after hours school time, plus weekends & summers together. He was a really nice, fun loving guy. I have many memories of our high school and Westfield State days.
We met up again at a reunion of old friends about a decade ago. Unsurprisingly, he was the same really nice guy.
My deepest sympathies to Al's family & friends. He will live on in the hearts & memories of those who knew & loved him.

Al and I started our postal careers together on the same day in 1979. We were close for a while but ended up taking different career paths. Whenever we ran into each other through the years it was fun recalling some of those early days. Sincere condolences to Al's family.
