Alfred Lee Combs, 87, of Chatham went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 4th, 2024.

Alfred was born on October 28th, 1936, in Alexander County to the late Roy & Lottie Head Combs. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Timothy Combs; and his three sisters, Geraldine Benfield, Betty Burns, and Dorothy Gwaltney. Alfred loved to tell stories to all his friends and family, he loved fishing and traveling, and he loved mechanical work. He was a member of the Silk Hope Ruritan Club and a member of Friends Fellowship Church. Alfred loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time and making memories with them all. Alfred was also a member of the Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Alice Faye Talton Combs of the home; his daughters, Deborah Navedo of Pittsboro, Sandra Hyler and her husband, Jacob of Claremont, and Carla Ivey and her husband Zack of Timberlake; his son, Brian Combs and his wife Amanda of Claremont, Alan Eller of Norfolk, VA, Robert, and Steve Eller of Clayton; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 12th, 2024, at 3 PM, at South Fork Friends Church in Snow Camp, NC. Visitation will be after burial in the church fellowship hall. Daniel Thames will be officiating the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Fork Friends Church, 359 S. Fork Bethel Rd. Snow Camp, NC 27349.

Smith & Buckner Funeral Home will be assisting the Combs family.
