Alfred T. Craig, born on February 23, 1944, in Vevay, Switzerland County, Indiana, passed away on December 12, 2024, at 80, in Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky. He lived a life characterized by dedication to his work and love for various hobbies that brought joy to his days.
Alfred spent 27 years of his life with the Carroll County Road Department, where he retired as assistant road supervisor, a testament to his hard work and commitment to public service. Prior to this role, he made significant contributions at Burgins Furniture and Flooring in Carrollton, where he was known for taking on any task imaginable. In addition to his professional endeavors, Alfred also cultivated the land, farming and raising tobacco, showcasing his connection to the agricultural roots of his upbringing.
He was an avid sports fan, particularly passionate about watching U.K. Basketball. Alfred found joy in various outdoor activities, including fishing and golfing. The thrill of the Kentucky Derby captivated him, as did the excitement of attending auctions. He had a unique knack for tinkering on old trunks and enjoyed searching through other people’s discarded treasures, highlighting his resourceful nature and eye for hidden gems.
Alfred leaves behind a loving family. He is survived by his daughter, Angel Craig of Ghent, KY; his brother, David Craig of Turners Station, KY; as well as grandchildren Heaven Craig of Ghent, KY, Sara Pelsor of Madison, IN, and Cristin Bissett of Vevay, IN. He also cherished several great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
He joins his beloved parents, Joe and Addie Wood Craig, his wife, Velma Jean "Bunny" Craig; his daughter, Lisa Chadwell; his grandson, Cory Chadwell; and his brothers, Thomas, Ricky, George, and Larry “Booty” Craig, in eternal rest. Alfred T. Craig's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. His remarkable legacy will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
At Afred's request, no formal services will be held.
