Alfred "AJ" Joseph Dotson, Jr. of Steelville, MO was born on Saturday, June 28, 1986, in Rolla, MO to Alfred Joseph Dotson, Sr. and Rebecca Copling. He passed away at Hoppe Spring Park in Steelville, MO, on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the age of 38 years, 7 months, and 4 days.
AJ was a lifelong resident of Crawford County attending school in both Cuba and Steelville. He had several jobs throughout his life, but worked last at Lakeside Book in Owensville. AJ married the love of his life, Chantis Scott, nee Fulliam, on July 7, 2013, in Steelville, MO and together had four children. He loved music, enjoyed being outside and especially liked visiting Hoppe Spring Park in Steelville.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Grace Dotson and Vernon and Rose Marie Copling.
AJ is survived by his father, Alfred (wife Rana) Dotson, Sr. of Cuba, MO; mother, Rebecca Copling of Steelville, MO; wife, Chantis Scott of Cuba, MO; children, Lazarus Dotson, Summer Dotson, Autumn Dotson all of Cuba, MO and Christopher Wilson of Bourbon, MO; siblings, Rebecca (husband Remer) Wyrick of Steelville, MO, Alex Dotson of Cuba, MO and Brett Barton of Union, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family chose cremation as his final disposition and will have a Memorial Gathering at a later date. Memorials may be given to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
