It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Alfred Evans, age 82, who passed away on August 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Alfred dedicated much of his life to the family business, Evans Ice House. Alfred was a friend to all - offering a cold drink, a warm smile, and a listening ear to anyone who walked through the door. Evans Ice House wasn't just a workplace; it was a gathering place, and Alfred made everyone feel like family. After retiring from the business, Alfred continued his lifelong commitment to helping others. He opened his heart and home by providing care and housing for mentally challenged individuals, and later worked as a resident assistant at a home for people living with AIDS. His compassion, patience, and dignity touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on those he served. Outside of work and service, Alfred was an avid sports fan, never missing a game from his favorite Texas teams. Whether it was football, baseball, or basketball, he cheered loudly and proudly, always keeping up with the latest scores, stats, and bets. Sports were more than a pastime - they were a passion he loved sharing with friends and family. Alfred is survived by his children; Frieda Evans Lujan (Michael A. Lujan), Gia Rodriguez (Javier Rodriguez), Bill Evans and John Evans, Sr. (Diana E. Evans) : grand children; Santino Lujan (Ashley Lujan), Carlo Lorenzo Lujan, Marco Antonio Lujan, Nathan Juarez, Julian Rodriguez, Giovanni Rodriguez, Giselle Rodriguez, William D. Evans (Brittany Evans), John Anthony Evans, Jr., Joshua Alec Evans, Jenna Elyse Moreno, Theresa "Tess" (Matthew Guevara) Guevara and Veronica Leal: great grand children; Luca Lujan, Christanna Lujan, Aubrey Denise Evans and Paisley Marie Evans, Juan Carlos Guevara, James Guevara, Julianna Guevara and Charlie Padilla. He is also survived by his brother Richard Evans (Dalia Evans) and numerous nieces and nephews, who will remember him for his big heart, sharp wit, and the quiet strength that carried through everything he did. He was preceded in death by his brothers; John Henry Evans and Gilbert Joe Evans. A rosary will be held on September 4th, at 6:30 p.m. and a Prayer service on September 5th, at 9:00a.m. at Mission Park South, where all who knew Alfred are welcome to join in honoring his life and legacy. Inurnment will follow at San Fernando #2 Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Alfred's memory to Footbridge Foundation and San Antonio animal rescue and pet adoption at www.footbridgefoundation.org Alfred Evans was a man of service, warmth, and unwavering loyalty - to his family, his friends, and his teams. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
