Youngstown - Alfred J. Matricardi, 96, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025 at the Hospice House.
He was born February 20, 1929 in Youngstown, a son of the late Samuel and Angelina (Rotz) Matricardi. He was a veteran of the Unites States Army.
Alfred worked for Ohio Edison from 1945 to 1955 and then Republic Steel/LTV from 1955 until retirement in 1985 after 30 years of service. Upon his retirement, he took up with his favorite hobby, golfing, and worked as a starter at Bedford Trails Golf Course for 25 years and proudly had 4 hole-in-ones. He also enjoyed going to the race track.
He leaves behind his children, Debra Matricardi of Boardman, Angelia Fox of Boardman, Lisa (fiancé Sonny Dillman) Kotel of Florence, KY, Maria (Ron) Hryb of Poland, Alfred (Jeni) Matricardi of Dayton, and Fredric (Amanda) Matricardi of FL; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; his brother, James Matricardi; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn Joseph Matricardi; and his siblings, Mike Petrock, Patrick "Patsy" Petrock, John, Lawrence, Samuel, and Donald Matricardi, and Virginia Scavnicky.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, immediately followed by a Memorial Celebration of Life beginning at 6:00 p.m.
