Alfred Reichel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Freed-Givnish Funeral Home, Inc. AKA John R. Freed Funeral Home on Mar. 26, 2026.
With great sadness, we announce that Alfred "Fred" Reichel passed away on Friday, March 20th, 2026 at the age of 32, following a courageous two-year and seven-month battle with Myxoid/Round Cell Liposarcoma. The strength he showed following his diagnosis was a constant inspiration to all who knew him and a testament to the deep love he held for his family and friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his grandparents: Alfred and Diane Reichel and John and Eleanor Brnich; his uncles: Joseph Reichel, Eric Reichel, and Thomas Brnich Sr.; and his cousins: Che and Michael Brnich. Fred is survived by his beloved wife Rebecca Glynn, his son Alfred James "AJ" Reichel, his parents Alfred and Eleanor (Brnich) Reichel, his parents-in-law Jeffrey and Maryann Glynn, his siblings-in-law Evan and Michelle (Glynn) Wiest, and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. All who knew him will miss his infectious laugh and the effortless charm he brought to every relationship. He had a way of making life feel a little lighter even in its heaviest moments.

A proud resident of Glenside, Fred attended Abington Senior High School, graduating in 2011. While working full-time, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Fox School of Business at Temple University. Though he often joked that he never actually used his degree, it paved the way for a dedicated career in dietary services-from his early days at Wawa to his role as District Manager with Healthcare Services Group. He was a dedicated worker who cared about his colleagues, but his hobbies and his friends were his true passion. Fred was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan, especially when it came to the Phillies, though he found joy in all sports, including golf, UFC, and WWE. He had an extraordinary memory, often recalling even the most obscure sports statistics, which he used to connect with others. His interests and trivia knowledge expanded beyond sports to movies, music, comedy, and even Broadway - he embraced every moment of culture and laughter and was constantly reaching out to share what he learned with anyone who would care. His love for Philadelphia extended to its food scene, where he was always eager to try a new restaurant, though he found equal joy in the kitchen learning to cook for those he loved. He was a master storyteller with a gift for accents and impressions and he fought every day for the people he loved most, leaving behind a legacy of strength, friendship, and a laugh that will never be forgotten.

Those who wish to pay their respects are invited to greet Fred's family on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Freed-Givnish Funeral Home located at 124 N. Easton Rd, Glenside, PA 19038. A second visitation will take place Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 9:30AM to 11:00 AM followed by his Funeral Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Johns Anglican Church 1150 Bristol Rd, Southampton, PA 18966. His internment will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support AJ's Scholarship Fund (via Zelle: [email protected]; Venmo: @RebeccaGlynn-8), or Sarcoma Research at the University of Pennsylvania (via Team Fred at the annual Steps to Cure Sarcoma event). Additionally, to support others in their journey, we encourage those who can to donate blood. These transfusions are an invaluable resource in cancer treatment, fueling the fight for patients and their families.
