Alfred J. Towler, Jr., 93, of Pottstown, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Pottstown Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara (Brown) Towler, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.

Alfred, a son of the late Alfred J. and Anna (Hamilton) Towler, Sr., was born in Philadelphia. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Wendy J., wife of Ed Kelly; two sons, Scott A. Towler, and Brian K. Towler, husband of Margie; 13 grandchildren, Ivy, Brittany, Ceara, Kaitlyn, Devon, Maelan, Cheyenne, Gracyn, Montana, Erin, Rachel, Shane, and Luka; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister, Janet Overholt. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Smith.

Alfred retired in 1996 after over 30 years with the Abington School District. He also owned his own roofing business.

He was a US Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War in an intelligence role stationed in Japan.

He was active in Boy Scouts for many years, and earned multiple leadership awards and was also a leader for the Explorers Club.

Alfred was active in competitive archery for many years, wining multiple awards. He was a leader for developing Youth Archery in schools' program. He was an avid and skilled chess enthusiast and played in clubs and online. Some additional hobbies included bowling, golf, carpentry, travel, spending time outdoors, classical music, reading, and rooting for Philadelphia sports teams.

He cherished his many pets throughout his life, especially the dogs who he loved to spoil with too many treats. Alfred enjoyed spending time with his family and entertaining them with his many stories, sense of humor, and singing.

Services will be private for the family. Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville, is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.lammandwitman.com
