Alfredo Ramos Sr., known as "Fred" or "Mr. Fred" peacefully passed away on September 18, 2024, in Texas City, Texas, at the age of 74. He was born on March 26, 1950, to Rudolph Ramos Sr. and Trinidad Castro Ramos in Galveston, TX.
Throughout his life, Fred was known for his strong work ethic and diligence. At the age of 10, he began his first job delivering the local newspaper before and after school. After graduating from Texas City High School, Fred successfully secured a career at Amoco/BP, spanning more than 36 years of service as a master pipe fitter and machinist, retiring in 2007. In 2001, he fulfilled a life-long dream of becoming a small business owner, establishing Star Kids Education and Daycare Center in La Marque, TX.
Fred loved sports and excelled at long distance running, baseball, and basketball. He took great pride in sharing his passion for sports with his children and grandchildren, fostering training and developmental activities, coaching their teams, and supporting and attending their games.
He embodied the spirit of hometown pride, participating in various local events such as parades and fishing tournaments. Fred also enjoyed landscaping and yard maintenance projects; as well as, do-it-yourself home maintenance and improvement projects.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lydia Stout.
Fred is survived by his three children, Alfredo Ramos Jr. "Fredo" (Ann Schmidt), Lisa Duran (Jose Duran Jr.), and Rachel Ramos; his three grandchildren, Rudy Ramos (Calysta Cisneros), Jacob Duran, and Joey Duran; his brother Rudolph Ramos Jr.; and many nephews, nieces; and cousins.
Pallbearers are Alfredo Ramos Jr. "Fredo", Jose Duran Jr., Rudy Ramos, Jacob Duran, Joey Duran, and Kenny Cambiano.
Fred was a loving son, brother, cousin, uncle, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered for his unparalleled work ethic and his love and dedication to his family and friends. He leaves a legacy of love, diligence, and determination that lives in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Alfredo Ramos Sr.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 5:00 PM, followed by a prayer/social service at 7:00 PM at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expwy, Texas City, Tx 77591.
Funeral Service will be on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowery Expwy, Texas City, Tx 77591. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7801 Gulf Fwy, Dickinson, TX 77539.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity.
