Alfredo Rey, 89, of El Paso, TX passed away at home, February 9, 2024.
Alfredo, known to family and friends as Al, was born to Pablo Rey and Josefina Diaz, on August 16, 1934, in El Paso, TX. He was one of seven children and was a proud, lifelong El Pasoan. Al graduated from Austin High School and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Al was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served his country as a Loadmaster during the Korean War. After leaving the service, he worked for Furr's Supermarkets. Al was a respected Manager and loyal employee for 35 years.
Al was a wonderful father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved his visits to Utah, where he fished and hunted with his nieces and nephews. Al was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, a computer enthusiast, a lover of all kinds of music, and a member of the American Legion and VFW.
Al is preceded in death by his parents; Pablo Rey and Josefina Diaz, siblings Paul Rey Jr., Arturo Rey, Cristobal Rey, Edmundo Rey, Eduardo Rey, and Estella Rey.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eva Rey, son Floyd Stephen Rey (Maryann); daughters, Vickie Estorga (Lorenzo), Lynda Franco (Mickey), Shirley Traughber (Anthony), and step-daughters Donna Garcia, Anita Toloy, and Lisa Kneafsey (David); seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
A viewing will take place at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 Resler Dr., Tuesday, February 20th from 11:30AM to 12:30PM and a service at 12:30PM. The burial will follow immediately at Ft Bliss National Cemetery.
