Alice Abello Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Mar. 5, 2025.
Alice Jean Abello
January 14, 1940 – February 28, 2025
Alice Jean Abello, age 85, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, went home peacefully to be with her Lord on February 28, 2025, surrounded by family.
She was a passionate and hospitable woman. She left behind very few earthly possessions because she gave so much away. She was always baking and cooking for those she loved. Just weeks before she passed, she made her famous refrigerator rolls for her grandchildren.
Alice was born on January 14, 1940, to Albin and Grace Anderson. She was the second of nine children. The daughter of two Swedes, she was always eager to talk about her Swedish heritage.
She grew up in Ohio, where she attended South High School in Youngstown, graduating in 1958. She served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1960 and was always proud of her service to her country.
A devoted mother of eight children, Alice cherished her family above all else. She cared for her seven sons and one daughter with great love and home-cooked meals. She was generous and left a lasting impact on those around her.
Alice had a diverse and fulfilling career, working in several capacities throughout her life. For most of her life, she was a stay-at-home mom to her children, but when circumstances changed, she returned to the workforce with resilience. She worked at Walmart in Newcastle, Oklahoma, from 1994 to 1995. Later, she worked at Southwest Airlines as a reservation sales agent from 1995 to 2004. Following this, she taught at Antioch Christian Academy from 2004 to 2010, sharing her passion for education.
Alice was a strong believer in the Lord and dedicated her life to following Him. She attended Western Pennsylvania Bible Institute from 1972 to 1974 and was a longtime member of Grace Fellowship in Oklahoma City, where she attended services for many years under the leadership of Pastor Gary Stearman. Alice hosted Bible studies in her home and was passionate about her Christian beliefs, often speaking openly about her faith.
Alice will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will continue to inspire her family and friends for years to come.
She is survived by her sons: Albert Jorge of Tuttle; Greg (and spouse Lori) of Tonkawa, OK; Richard of Colorado Springs, CO; Mark (and spouse Janice) of Tuttle, OK; Timothy (and spouse Nikki) of Colorado Springs, CO; Phillip (and spouse Donette) of Colorado Springs, CO; and Andrew (and spouse Aubrie) of Bemidji, MN. She is also survived by her daughter, Melody (and spouse Eric) Schellenger of Tuttle, OK.
She also leaves behind 35 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Daniel and Paul Anderson; and sisters, Kristine Demes, Robin Houser, Tina Baird, and Debbie Gati, as well as many extended family members in Ohio. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Carol Halatek and Laurel Robinson, her beloved parents, Albin and Grace Anderson, and her infant granddaughter, Faith Ashley.
Her life will be celebrated on Friday, March 28th, at 11 a.m. at Woodland Hills Baptist Church.
