Alice Arnold Obituary

Medford - Alice Mae Arnold, age 88, of Medford, MN, passed away peacefully at Timberdale Trace Memory Care, Thursday, May 22, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Alice was born on August 19, 1936, on a farm near Blooming Prairie, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Dorothy "Dora" (Houdek) Renchin. She grew up near Hayfield, MN, and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1954. Following graduation, Alice attended nursing school at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, MN, for a short time before working at Jostens in Owatonna, MN, for a few years.

On November 16, 1957, Alice was united in marriage to Kenneth Arnold at Sacred Heart Church in Hayfield. The couple farmed in Merton Township, where Alice embraced the life of a farmer's wife and together, they raised four children. She spent over 40 years milking cows, retiring in 1995 and celebrating the century farm milestone in 2006. Throughout their years on the farm, Alice and Keny created a loving home where family was the foundation of everything they did. After Keny's passing in 1995, Alice worked part-time at the Faribault Daily News for several years.

Alice was a devoted member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Medford, where she also belonged to the Council of Catholic Women, and was a past member of the Eagles in Albert Lea. Her family and faith were everything to Alice. She loved attending family events and took special joy in her grandchildren, loving nothing more than spending time with them and watching them grow and conquer their achievements. Alice also enjoyed dancing, traveling, reading, sewing, beading, and working on puzzles.

Alice is survived by her children Mark Arnold of Medford, Linda (Michael) Noble of West Concord, MN, Lois (Jason) Ernst of Lester Prairie, MN, and Vicki (Stephen) Oatway of Owatonna. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ryan (Sarah) Noble; Joseph (Mandy) Arnold; Justine (Adam) Posselt; Matthew (Erika) Arnold; Derek (Leah) Ernst; Connie (Andrew) Toavs; Dillon (Sovannah) Noble; Shannon Arnold; Jonathan Ernst; Jesse Oatway and Kendall Petrie; Alexander (Catrina) Oatway, and Cartier Oatway. She was blessed with 23 great-grandchildren. Alice is further survived by her sister Rosemary Besch of Blaine, MN; and brother-in-law Vernon Ginder of Austin, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth Arnold; siblings: Dorothy (Francis "Bob") Virnig, Theresa (James) Kasper, Frances (Roger) Blakestad, David (Alleen) Renchin, Rozella Renchin, Margaret (Francis) Kozilek, Sylvia Ginder and brothers-in-law Irvin "Roger" Engen and Jerome Besch; her in-laws Margaret (Bernard) Skalicky and Norbert (Lillian) Arnold; niece Sandra Arnold; and nephews Donald and Daniel Virnig, John Engen and Dennis Skalicky.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Medford Funeral Home (310 E. Central Ave, Medford), with a Parish Rosary at 3:45 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 28, at 10:00 AM, with a procession to the church at 10:45 AM.
