Alice Beardsley Obituary

Alice Marie Beardsley, 97, of Ankeny Iowa, passed from this world to her eternal home in heaven on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Mill Pond Care Center in Ankeny.

Alice was born on October 6, 1928, in Barney, Iowa; she was the daughter of Orra E. Berry and Margaret "Pearl" Berry. Alice attended school in the Winterset school district. Alice was united in marriage with her husband, Wilbur "Junior" Beardsley on May 9, 1948, at the Methodist Parsonage in Winterset, Iowa. Alice had several jobs over the course of her career and retired in 1990. Alice enjoyed traveling with her husband. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sewing, quilting, flowers and her children's pets. Alice was a member of the Madison County VFW Auxiliary for 65 years.

Left to cherish Alice's memory is her son, Craig Beardsley of Des Moines Iowa; daughter, Carrie Lynn (Larry) Voorhees of Ankeny; granddaughter Tina Voorhees (Michael) Lajko, and grandsons Noah, Jeremy, Caleb and Seth Lajko; granddaughter Stephanie Beardsley Gabriel and her long-time friend Winona "Nonie" Rush.

Special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Mill Pond Care Center and her Unity Point Hospice team.

Alice is proceeded in death by her husband, Wilbur "Junior" Beardsley; brother, George "Cecil" Berry; her parents Orra E. and "Pearl" Berry and her maternal and paternal grandparents (George J. Carey and Maude Wilson Carey and Clara Belle Shackelford Berry and Charles Allen Berry).

A private entombment will be held at Merle Hay Funeral Home, Des Moines, Iowa.
