Ms. Alice Ann Downer Cleveland, 84, of Pulliam Street, Elberton, went to the be with the Lord on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at her residence.
Ms. Alice was born in Elberton on March 3, 1940, daughter of the late Ruby Linis Downer Hunt and the late Ellis Hunt. She was a devoted member of Westside Presbyterian Church and worked as a valued member of the Steve and Marcia Jenkins family for many years. Alice loved people and never missed an opportunity to love on them, especially through her excellent cooking and baking. Her favorite past time was shopping, even after she was unable to leave home she continued shipping via catalogs.
She loved her family dearly, and was a devoted mother to her three children: Beverly Moon Hill (Donald) of Elberton, Charles Moon (Gussie) of Elberton, and Marvin Keith Cleveland (Emma) of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; doting grandmother to her three grandchildren: Charles “Woody” Moon, Jr., of Elberton, Chiquita Winn (Chaio) of Elberton, and Carla Renee Hill of Elberton; a great-grandmother to her ten great-grandchildren: Ny-Tavious Moon, Ty’Asia Moon, Da-Khovin Winn, Zadia Winn, Amauri Winn, Karson Rambert, Nolan Brown, Cason Eberhardt, Marquila Jones, and Shakai Jones; and a great-great-grandmother to Brooklynn Jones. She also leaves behind two special cousins: Linda Gail Downer and Doris Phillips; and three goddaughters: Yvonne Dean, Wanda Wingfield, and Jerrie Bolden. Alice is fondly remembered as “Mama C” to Steve Jenkins, John Jenkins, Jim Jenkins, Marjorie Jenkins Moon, Bill Jenkins, and has been reunited in Heaven with Marcia Jenkins.
Alice will lie instate on Wednesday, February 26, from 9:00a.m.-4:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home for those wishing to pay their respects and sign the guestbook.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be conducted on Thursday, February 27, at 1:00p.m. at her beloved Westside Presbyterian Church. She will be laid to rest in Lincoln Heights Cemetery. The family is receiving friends at the residence.
