Alice Malone Dowty died in the early morning of Oct. 18, 2024, at her home in Westport, NY. She was 77 and a former longtime resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana.
She was a reporter for the Livingston Parish News for over 30 years. She won numerous state and national awards, mostly for best investigative reporting. She moved to New York after losing her Denham Springs home in the 2016 flood to be with her grandson, Evan. She loved and adored him with her entire being. She is also survived by her two loving daughters, Rachel Dowty and Lisa Dowty, whom she loved unconditionally; a brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Marilyn Malone of Metairie, Louisiana; longtime friend, Richard Robbins; best friend, Corey DelaHoussaye; sister-in-law, Susan Dowty and husband Adam of North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Stephen Dowty and wife Amy of North Carolina, and Jon Dowty and wife Sherito of California; dear friend in her final months, Bob Seidenstein; and her beloved cat, Cokie.
Alice was full of life and never met a stranger. She lived life to its fullest and appreciated every moment. She had a love for reading, writing and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Dowty; and her parents, Edwin and Sara Malone of Mandeville, Louisiana.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
