Alice Jean Fischbach

Alice Jean Fischbach, 100, of Wapakoneta, passed away peacefully, Sunday afternoon, November 30, 2025, at Lima Memorial Health System, with her loving family at her side. She was born July 11, 1925, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of the late Oscar H. Sr. and Helen (Langhorst) Erb. In 1945, she married Ralph Mertz, Sr., and he preceded her in death. On October 4, 1957, she married Donald Paul Fischbach, and he died July 9, 2024.

brother, Lewis (Helen) Erb, Sr., Wapakoneta.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Oscar, Jr., Richard, and Eileen Briscoe.
Alice retired from the Wapakoneta City Schools cafeteria, after 25 years of service. A 1944 graduate of Blume High School, she was a lifelong resident of Wapakoneta and a life member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta. For many years, Alice and her husband Don enjoyed golfing and ballroom dancing. She was an accomplished bridge player and enjoyed chair volleyball at Otterbein-Cridersville.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Chaplain Peter Citrin officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 12-2 p.m., Thursday, December 4, at the funeral home.
