Alice Marie (Newell) Malsbury passed away peacefully at her home on June 14, 2025, surrounded by
family. Alice was the first child born to Omer A. and Irene E. (Petesch) Newell, was raised in Rock Creek, KS, and graduated from Valley Falls High School. Alice was a devoted mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She lived her life with quiet strength, kindness and a generous heart. Her greatest joy came from time spent with family sharing stories, laughter and love, and from her love for Jesus.
Alice is survived by her children, Gary Dale Malsbury, Jr., Berryton; Jason (Dorothy), Malsbury, Oskaloosa; Christopher (Angelia), Malsbury, Oklahoma; Craig (Emily) Malsbury, Oskaloosa; Amy (Jeff) Bryant, Oklahoma; and James (Aubrey) Malsbury, Winchester; 15 grandchildren-Christine (Phong) Vacca; Noah (Monique) and Zachary Malsbury; Teagan, Dominic and Macayla Malsbury; Annie, Johnny, Nolan and Molly Malsbury; Jasmine and Jaden Bryant; Trinity (Dawson) Williams, Cambrey and Presley Malsbury; two great-grandchildren-Aurora and Victoria; three brothers, Earl (Carol) Newell, Larry (Janet) Newell and Francis Newell; two brothers-in-law, Larry Cornelison and John (Lucy) Thomas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gary; her grandson C.J.; brothers-in-law Arden Malsbury and Robert Malsbury; and sister-in-law Janine Cornelison.
Alice's family will remember her as someone who always had a warm meal ready, a listening ear and a
deep love for simple pleasures like blooming flowers, sunshine and her favorite fried chicken.
The family will gather at Fairview Cemetery, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM to say our goodbyes and to honor Alice's memory and legacy. All are welcome to join us in this moment of remembrance. Memorials to honor Alice may be made to Jefferson County Friends of Hospice and sent in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 602, Oskaloosa, KS 66066. barnettfamilyfh.com
