Alice Morand (97) was called home to Jesus on April 9, 2025. Alice was preceded in death by her husband’s Gus Karambelas and Joseph Morand. She was the loving Mother of Sam (Lupe) and Sandy (Ed). Cherished Grandmother of Lisa, Anastasia, Katrina, Eric, John and Sherrian. Great Grandmother of 11 and Great-Great Grandmother of 3. Alice was born on May 21, 1927, to John and Bernice Talaga. She was preceded in death by her 6 siblings, Ted, Cas, Jen, Henry, Lorry and John. Due to her mother’s passing, upon graduation from grammar school, Alice accepted the role of surrogate Mother to her 4 younger siblings. High school was not an option for her, which she always regretted. Education, being of great importance to her, prompted Alice to get her GED at the age of 45.
Alice was a force of nature, always striving to do her best. She was a fantastic role model to many. She loved her career in real estate; achieving the top sales award in 1984. She routinely walked 2-3 miles a day, sometimes walking to the gym, working out and walking back home. Alice was an avid golfer. She was the women’s club champion at Deer Valley Golf Club in Sun City West AZ. She was very proud of her hole in one on November 11, 2004. Competitive to the end, three days before her passing, she was upset after missing the hole while playing corn hole at Arden Courts.
Alice will be sorely missed by her nieces and nephews, and the many friends that she has met along the way. Alice has finished her final round. She has caddied for Jesus her entire life. Alice is now a member of HIS country club. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lurie Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
