Alice Frances Odegaard, 97, peacefully passed away in Thomasville GA on February 3, 2026.
Alice was born on April 6, 1928, in New Jersey to her parents Waldo and Margaret Spear. She was the youngest of three children, with older brother Waldo Jr and sister Phyllis "Muriel." She and her sister, Muriel, had a deeply spiritual and lifelong friendship. She attended Wheaton College where she met Carroll Odegaard. They were married in 1948 and had a devoted marriage for 41 years. They lived most of their lives in Sarasota, Florida where they enjoyed the company of her parents and her husband's family. While primarily a home-maker, Alice had several part-time jobs; later in life she became a Certified Nursing Assistant. After the death of Carroll, Alice married Rev. Walter Pierce, with whom she spent 20 years of happy marriage. Shortly after the death of Walter, she moved to Hahira, Georgia under the loving care of her daughter, Joy Alice Clemons. In Hahira she attended the Salem United Methodist Church.
Alice was a devout Christian, beginning each day in prayer and readings in Scripture. Her faith defined her thoughts and actions.
A formidable hostess, she was known widely to family and friends for her warmth, humor and hospitality. She loved to cook and keep a welcoming home. She played board games with a competitive streak.
She is survived by her children, Steven Odegaard, Joy Clemons and David Odegaard, grandson Derek and great-grandson Callen. She was a beloved aunt to a host of nieces and nephews on the Spear and Odegaard sides of the family.
We celebrate her Light and Spirit as she now rests in the arms of her Lord.
