Alice Christine Henderson Sistrunk, a lifelong resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born on April 25, 1936, in Shreveport to Arch Cates Henderson and Lois Turner Henderson.
Alice grew up in Converse, Louisiana, and graduated from El Dorado High School. She loved flowers, gardening, and cooking, and was especially known for her homemade rolls and jelly. Her home was always filled with warmth, love, and the delicious aroma of something baking in the oven.
A devoted member of her church, Alice was always willing to lend a helping hand and volunteered for anything that was needed. Her faith, kindness, and generosity touched many lives in her church and community.
Above all, Alice cherished her family. She looked forward to every gathering and took joy in the presence of her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Homer Covin Sistrunk; and her brother and sister-in-law, Bertie and Kay Henderson.
She is survived by her son, Scott Sistrunk and his wife Lei; her grandchildren, Chalet and Grant Williams, Chelsy and Stephen Green, Palei Escobar and DeAndre Walpool; and her great-grandchildren, ReaLei Walpool, Ashlyn Williams, Riley Green, Adam Williams, Roycei Walpool, and Avery Green. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend and sister-in-law, Lynn Shoalmire.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA, with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be Grant Williams, Stephen Green, DeAndre Walpool, John Henderson, Adam Sistrunk, Greg Shoalmire, and Steven Schuman. Honorary pallbearers are Adam Williams and Avery Green.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Alice’s memory.
The family would like to give a special thank you to: Amanda, Bettye John, Courtney, Jodie, Larry, MiMi, and Shondale with Amedisys Hospice for their care of our mother during this time.
