Alice Pauline (Peak) Spilde, 97 passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at her residence at the Hidden Creek Estates in Albert Lea, MN.  A funeral service will be held at 11am, Wednesday June 12 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, with a visitation held an hour prior to the service.  Reverend Shane Koepke will be officiating.

Alice was born in Gothenburg, Nebraska in 1927, to Ernest and Versa Peak.  The family eventually settled in the Hollandale area.  Alice attended schools in Hollandale and Albert Lea.   She married Willard Spilde at the First Lutheran Parsonage in 1948, and were married for 70 years.  They resided on the north side of Albert Lea in the same house on Edgewood Avenue for 65 of those years and then moved to Hidden Creek Estates, where Alice resided for over six years.

Alice was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, having been a Bible school teacher, Circle participant, and for many years was a member of the sewing group there.  She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Alice is survived by her daughter Sharon (Ray) Dale; granddaughter Christine (Brandon) Schrader; great-granddaughters Charlotte and Alice; many nieces and nephews and her special friends Rene Cardona and Mary Carlson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willard; parents Ernest and Versa; siblings Francis Peak, Douglas Peak, Wilma Noble, Twila Norton and their spouses. Her father and mother-in-law Reinert and Gunda Spilde; sisters-in-law Eleanor Godtland, Helen McDaniels and their spouses; brother-in-law Floyd Spilde and nephews David Peak, Larry Spilde and David Godtland.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Alice’s doctors: Dr. Ulrich, Dr. Skorin and Dr. Eckstrom.   Also, thanks to the staff at Hidden Creek for their kindness to Alice.

As per Alice’s request, she wanted her obituary to contain “just the facts and no more than that”.   In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Grace Lutheran Sewing Group.

The service will be live-streamed from the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home Facebook page and can be watched at the following link:  https://fb.me/e/47zP9FMnw
