Alice Joyce Waldie, 95, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior in Tyler on June 9, 2025. Private graveside will be held at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas later with arrangements under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Joyce was born July 9, 1929, in Houston to Joe Looney and Clora Finley Looney. She graduated from Lufkin High School. She met the love of her life, John William Waldie, while attending Stephen F Austin State University. They married, April 14, 1948, and were married 66 wonderful years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Arlington for 55 years and worked as the church secretary for 15 years. She enjoyed being part of the Red Hat society. Joyce also enjoyed being with family, shopping, and spending time with many of their friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John William Waldie; brothers, Tommy Looney, Jim Looney and Joe Looney; sisters, Martha Bird and Linda
Looney.
Survivors: her son, John H Waldie and his wife Vicky Waldie, granddaughters, Jana Simmons and husband, Tim Simmons, Laura Isaac and husband, Keith Isaac; great-granddaughters, Brittney Carroll and husband Chase Carroll, Madison Sheets, Jodi Ballenger and husband Seth Ballenger, Morgan Sheets; grandson; Karter Simmons; and 2 great-great-grandsons.
