Alice "Fay" Whitby (Ward) died in her home on October 14, 2024, in Lady Lake, FL due to complications following lung cancer. She was 73.
Mrs. Whitby was born on June 21, 1951, in Possum Trot, KY to her parents, Thomas and Maretta Ward. She graduated from Reidland High School in 1969. She married Russell Walton Whitby Sr. on December 14,1968. The Whitby's moved to Florida in 2021 where she has been living her best life in retirement.
Mrs. Whitby was a wife, mother, nanny, and friend to many. She loved to play golf and play slot machines and she filled her days with whatever came about.
Mrs. Whitby is survived by her husband, Russell Walton Whitby Sr., daughters Christina (Eddie) Devine of Sharpe, KY, Judy (Chris) Crider of The Villages, FL, Laura Whitby of Indianapolis, IN; and Katherine (Khayyam) Mulcahy of Benton, KY, her son, Russell Whitby Jr. of Wingo, KY; her brothers, Paul Ward and Joe Ward; her sisters, Phyllis Bouland & Patricia Croley. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Angela Toon, Kristin Hamlin, MarKevin Crider, Andrew Crider, Kirklin Crider, Chris Chappell, Josh Massey, Sarah Welch, Dakota Ellis, Mason Devine, Blake Devine, Allyson Whitby, and Austin Whitby and twelve great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas & Maretta Ward, her brothers John Ward, Cletus Ward and Marionlewis Ward, and her sister Doris Thompson.
Mrs. Whitby will be buried in a private ceremony at the Florida National Cemetery on November 25, 2024. A Celebration of Life will take place on November 25, 2024, at 3:30 p.m. at Paradise Recreation Center in Lady Lake, FL. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mrs. Whitby's life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Lung Association. https://action.lung.org/site/Donation2.
