Obituary published on Legacy.com by Corey Funeral Home - Evart on Nov. 12, 2025.
Born October 23, 1948 in Kadoka, SD, the fifth of six children, Alice Fay Letellier's parents were Lloyd and Esther Letellier. Lloyd ranched and Esther was a teacher and housewife. Alice attended the elementary school in Norris, but later attended and graduated from Sunshine Bible Academy in Miller, SD. Eventually she earned a Bachelor of Science degree and became a Registered Nurse (RN).
Having accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, Alice sought to do God's will. She served Jesus at various SD summer camps and went to Mexico and Canada in an outreach to serve the Savior. While visiting her two brothers at Dallas Theological Seminary, she met Tom and Mary Gordon who eventually moved to Stephenson, Michigan. While visiting the Gordon's she met and became friends with Gary White. God used Florence Eckstrom to enlist her in mission work on Cat Island, Bahamas. In her second year, Gary visited Alice and later proposed. They were married in Stephenson, MI 09/30/1978, and together returned to Cat Island for 9 additional years where Alice was involved in teaching Bible in the schools, served Jesus at Old Bight Gospel Chapel, and helped with Gary's camp ministry reaching-out to girls, children, youth and adults.
In 1987, Alice, Gary and Brian moved to Marquette, MI where Daniel was born and Alice worked as a RN in a care facility. They moved to Elizabeth Town, PA and Lansing, MI before moving to
Evart, MI, in 1992, where she was a housewife, and homeschooled Brian and Daniel. Some years later Alice went to work at Reed City Hospital/Spectrum Health. After leaving Spectrum, Alice and Gary became foster parents to 19 boys and youth, some of them more than once. The purpose was to give them the opportunity for a better life, while planting seeds of faith.
Over the course of 23 years, Alice made birthday cakes and cooked good meals for the many youth Gary brought home from Pineview Homes. At Calvary Baptist, Alice was instrumental in: forming and teaching Ladies Bible Studies, teaching Sunday School, led the Awana Program for 30 years, taught Junior Church, was a deaconess, used her nursing skills to help others, entertained visiting missionaries and groups, and was a friend to all.
Over the years Alzheimer's slowly consumed Alice, but her love for others, her sense of humor, her passion for walking, and her enjoyment of God's creation did not lessen. Alice and Gary were in their 48th year of marriage, and she was in her 78th year of life when Jesus called Alice into glory on 11/09/2025 under the care of Hospice of Michigan. Prayers were answered when Jesus took her home with her family at her side.
Alice was a faithful servant of Christ. She ran the race of faithfulness to life's finish line ahead of her brothers: Jim Letellier, Don Letellier, Glen Letellier and Roy Letellier. She is also survived by her older sister, Dorothy Peterson; two granddaughters, Sierra and Marissa, born to son, Brian who passed in 2008; son, Daniel White and spouse, Cris of Round Rock, TX, and two granddaughters, Emily and Chloe; third son, David White and spouse, Danielle from northern Michigan, and grandson, Ezra; and her best friend, beloved husband, Gary White of Evart.
Alice leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, love, and devotion for her Creator, her family and others. Jesus called her home because her work here was finished. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Visitation will be held from 11AM to 1PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Evart with funeral services beginning at 1PM on Saturday, November 15th. She will be laid to rest next to son, Brian at Forest Hill Cemetery, Evart. Funeral arrangements and care have been entrusted to Corey Funeral Home, Evart.
