We honor the life of Alicia Lee Ashby. An extremely loved individual, beloved daughter, sister, vital family member, and friend. She impacted so many lives with her laughter and humor. Alicia was an overwhelming light of happiness and love. She cared so deeply about everyone in her life, often to a fault, and never stopped protecting her loved ones. If she loved you, she loved you with all her heart.
Alicia was born July 30, 1992, in Yakima, Washington. As a child she attended St. Joseph Marquette. This is where her love of playing basketball began. Alicia and her father, Leonard, spent countless hours together practicing with her AAU team, until it was time to play basketball at LaSalle High School. This was one of the times in her life when Leonard had to let her go and be coached by someone else. This was a hard transition for Alicia and Leonard. Throughout her young life she exhibited extreme athleticism. She also ran track and was a state qualifier every year she participated. During her senior year, she was the Valley Leader in the 400m. If you ever had the pleasure of playing or competing with her, you knew she was the one to beat. She had a competitive spirit that also complimented her outgoing personality. She was one of the most outgoing individuals you would ever meet, she could befriend anyone and would always aid those in need.
As an adult she worked in the service industry, this is where her personality flourished. She could make anyone comfortable and feel like her best friend. Many people in the community knew Alicia's smile and friendly personality. Alicia was unforgettable. Before this tragedy, Alicia and her father had made arrangements for her to begin attending barber school. Alicia was ready to begin a new chapter in her life. Unfortunately, this is where her story ends, leaving us wondering what would have happened if different decisions had been made. Surround yourself with people who value your life as much as their own.
Alicia is survived by her parents, Leonard and Lydia, sisters, Alexandra, Leah, CoCo, her niece, Alaina, brother-in -law, Jerrod, and most importantly, her dog-child, Cinco. This tragedy did not just affect her immediate family but has devastated the community. There was no goodbye, just an absence, sudden and abrupt. Our family will always have a missing puzzle piece and life will be too quiet.
To know her was to love her. We will never forget how strong, fierce, and vibrant Alicia was. May your soul find peace, forever our guardian angel. "We love you Forever."
To all those who loved Alicia Lee Ashby, we would like to welcome you to her Celebration of Life. If you knew her and want to pay respects, please come. A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 4:00-7:00pm, at Brookside Funeral Home (500 W. Prospect, Moxee, WA 98936), with a Rosary at 6:00pm. All are welcome to participate in helping guide her to heaven. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 10:00am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Yakima. You are welcome to come express your love and affection to Alicia. A Graveside Service will follow, at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. A Reception will follow, at LaSalle High School, in Union Gap.

I don't know the family, but I am good friends with Ted Strom and Dalane Demontiney. I live in Seattle and come to the Valley when I need to get away. Mr. Leonard is a good friend of Ted's, and he and Dalane say nothing but great things about him and his family. I am so sorry to hear of their loss, as I am the mother of two girl's myself. I pray for peace and healing for the family and hope that the future will be good to them. Blessings. LCK.
