Alicia Leon was born on October 26, 1926, in San Jose, Costa Rica from where she emigrated to the USA in January 1963. She passed away peacefully at her home in Irvine, CA on January 5, 2025 at the age of 98.
She joins in death her parents, former husband, three siblings and daughter Emily Larin.
Alicia is survived by her son Renan, son Edward and daughter-in-law Michelle and their children Sienna, Cole and Jade plus numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. The whereabouts of her much-loved and missed granddaughter Jennifer Larin is unknown.
Alicia enjoyed living. She relished the company of people and was always eager to socialize. It would only take a phone call from a friend or family member for her to be ready to be picked up or get in her car to attend a party or social event.
She also loved traveling with her friends, visiting countries in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Latin America.
She was an avid reader and read works of renowned writers despite her limited formal education.
Alicia embodied goodness, kind-heartiness, consideration, and empathy for others, particularly those in need. She was caring, compassionate, a genuine friend and a very loving mother and grandmother. She lived long enough to happily see her much-loved youngest grandchildren (Nana Alicia to them) grow.
Alicia’s delight in living, disposition to converse and discuss current events and or simply chit-chat about family events will be missed. As will be the totality of the great human being that she was.
