Obituary of Alicia Yap Lucasan
Alicia Yap Lucasan passed away in Pearland, Texas, on Thursday, February 8th, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born on April 13, 1941 as the 2nd of 8 children of Godofredo D. Yap and Elisa O. Jallorina in Culasi, Antique, Philippines. Alicia is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesus Lucasan; son, Christopher Lucasan; brother, Rogelio J. Yap: and sisters, Fredolisa Y. Jalandoni, and Evangeline Y. Xavier. Left to cherish Alicia's memory are her sons, Jesse Lucasan, John Lucasan and wife Maria Katrina, Christian Lucasan and wife Anna; daughters, Anna Lisa Lucasan Maglantay and husband Napoleon, and Alicia Santos and husband Jose; sisters, Amelita Y. Alolod, Violeta Y. Delos Reyes, Adelfa Y. Andres, and Dina Y. Javier; grandchildren, John Chris, Alianna, Christine Alyssa, Christopher Jr, Janica, Johanna, Katriona, Christianne, David Solomon; and a host of other family and friends.
Alicia graduated from Northern Antique High School in 1957 and later attended the University of Santo Tomas (Manila), graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in 1967. From 1972 to 1982, Alicia worked as a Sugar Analyst and Researcher at the Philippine Sugar Commission. After emigrating to the United States, Alicia worked as a Pharmacy technician for Memorial Hermann Hospital from 1990 until her retirement in 2012.
Alicia was a caring and devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and friend to many. Her life's principles centered in her faith in Lord Jesus Christ. His Word was her joy and daily inspiration. Alicia was known for her fine personal qualities, high moral principles, and ideals- a reflection of the meaning of her name "a noble kind." She carried herself with grace and elegance at all times and held firm to her moral standards; all these values she carefully passed down to her children and grandchildren. Alicia was an avid reader of classics and biographies. She loved playing table tennis and was also crowned as a beauty queen during her youth. Though a career woman, she was a homemaker by heart- her joys were to bake for her family, tend to her garden and hosting gatherings at her home. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral service for Alicia will be held at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland (5530 W. Broadway St, Pearland, Texas 77581). Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Her Funeral service will be held the following day, Saturday, February 24th, at 11:00 am. Interment will then follow at Houston Memorial Gardens, in Pearland, Texas.
