Richard Mable Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 10 to Apr. 11, 2023.
Richard Davidson Mable, 53 of Wakefield, Massachusetts passed away unexpectedly on April 5th, 2023.

He is survived by his mother Patricia Mable of Shelburne, Vermont, sister Katie Mable, her partner Ethan Chamberlain and their son Dylan Chamberlain of Essex Vermont, Paternal Aunt Colleen Mable of Indian Land South Carolina, and loving partner Katherine McWilliams of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Richard was predeceased by his father Ted Mable of South Burlington, Vermont and paternal Uncle Richard Mable of Indian Land South Carolina.

Richard was a native Vermonter and graduated from South Burlington High School in 1986 and Castleton State College in 1990 with a degree in Business Administration. He went on to hold various positions in the banking industry in and around the greater Boston area.

Although born and raised in Vermont, Rich was a longtime resident of Boston and avid fan of the Boston Sports Scene. He was known to travel throughout the United States to catch a great game. Rich also loved the game of golf, movies, travel, and live music. He once took a solo trip across England that was an unforgettable experience for him. Rich was a quiet, kind, sensitive and very thoughtful soul with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a wonderful Uncle to his nephew Dylan and dog Daddy to Katherine's beloved dog Jerry. He is gone way too soon, and his family is truly heartbroken over this tremendous loss.

His family and Katherine would enjoy any memories or pictures that you may have to share of Rich. Any donations in his memory can be made to the Boston Bruins Foundation, 100 Causeway Street, Boston, MA 02114, they also have an online donation page.

At this time we are not having services but may have a Celebration of Life sometime in the summer months.

I knew Rich from our shared time at Chaston Associates. I started as a bewildered 22 year old, and Rich's quick humor and kind way was a welcomed relief in an otherwise overwhelming environment. I remember my first time traveling for work in Enfield, CT when Rich took me out to dinner and we stopped off for frozen yogurt on the way back to the hotel. We laughed about how childish but fun it was for the rest of the week and I instantly felt that I had a friend at work. We kept in touch over the years despite his departure with regular conversations about the Patriots and even more so about the Jets. I will miss Rich very much, my condolences to his family and partner.

Kathy my friend, although I was unable to meet Rich in person, I know, after knowing you since 1978, you were very happy with Rich. He had the same intense Boston sports fever, you have! Be it Boston Sox, Boston Bruins, etc, you shared that. I haven´t heard you that happy, in a long time.
Rest in pease Rich

I worked with Rich in Andover, MA about 15 years ago and most recently for the past 4 years at Lowell Five. He was a quiet, sweet guy with an amazing sense of humor! He'd pop by my desk now and then and I'd get an update or two. He talked about his nephew Dylan and share his latest pictures. He was a proud uncle for sure. More recently I started hearing about his girlfriend and I was so happy for him. I know he was struggling with some health issues but hearing of his passing is just so shocking. My heart goes out to family and his girlfriend.

I worked with Rich for many years at Chaston Associates. There were many jobs where we all worked in the same conference room, ate lunch, dinner and traveled together. Rich had the unique ability to keep me in stitches and infuriate me, often within minutes of each other. He was smart, savvy, observant and very entertaining. This photo I feel captures the essence of Rich, dressed in office attire but often clowning around. He is gone far too soon. My deepest sympathy to his Mom and sister Katie. May Rich's memory be a blessing.

I had the honor of working with Rich for about fifteen years. Over that time I developed a deep appreciation for his nuanced business insight, his inspired humor, his keen social observations, and even his visually stunning handwriting.

I would occasionally use the "groovy" when something went particularly well, and in turn Rich would sometimes greet me as "Groovy Dude." Well, Rich, the world is a far less groovy place without you. I will miss you, my friend.
