It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Alicia Elizabeth Schmitz, who departed on July 17, 2025, in Urbana, Iowa, at the age of 43. Born on January 28, 1982, in Iowa, Alicia was a free spirit who embraced life with a deep passion. While Alicia's time with us was far too short, she will remain forever etched in our hearts.
Alicia is survived by her loving mother, Christine, Alicia's sister, Alexa, Alicia's children, Jonathan, Jenny, and Logan. Her significant other was Donovan Mabie-bahr and his son Albert. She leaves behind numerous family and friends who touched her heart. Her absence will be felt profoundly by all who knew her.
Alicia was preceded in death by her father, Richard, who passed away in 2017. Her relationship with her father was one of thoughtful care and love.
Alicia's journey was one marked by her approach to life with a unique perspective. Whether through a shared experience or a conversation, Alicia made every interaction meaningful.
The family will be holding a private Funeral Mass at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the All Saints Catholic Church.
Alicia Elizabeth Schmitz will be dearly missed; may she rest in peace.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.
