She received her early education in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1968.
Alicia went on to dedicate her professional life to service, working as a teacher’s aide at Wister Elementary School, where she influenced and inspired many young lives. She later continued her career at Intercontinental, where she was respected for her hard work and dedication.
On November 18, 1983, Alicia was united in marriage to the late Cecil Dehaven Williams in Manhattan, New York. Their union was blessed with a daughter whom she cherished, China Dawn Williams, born in 1986. Alicia devoted her life to her family, and China remained her pride and joy.
Alicia was affectionately known by many names—Big Alicia, Nana, Mama Licia, and Aunt Alicia. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend who touched countless lives with her warmth and kindness. She loved to dance, with the two-step being her favorite, and she carried herself with a joy that was contagious to all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Alicia met many well-known and prominent figures, but to her family, she was the most prominent figure of all. Her presence, wisdom, and love will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of those she leaves behind.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William B. Madden and Carrie Jones-Madden, brothers: Curtis Madden and Robert Madden and her husband, Cecil Dehaven Williams.
Alicia leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, China Dawn Williams; her stepson, Malik Williams; her sisters: Jeannette Madden and Pamela Madden-Morris; her brothers: Johnny Madden, Michael Madden, and William Madden; her favorite niece, Nicoyia Madden; and a host of other relatives and friends who will remember her with love and gratitude.
