Allan R. Bentsen

Bentsen, Allan R. GUILDERLAND Allan R. Bentsen, 79, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2022, with his family by his side. Born on July 25, 1942, on Staten Island, he was the son of the late Allan and Alice Bentsen. Allan was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard. He worked for the New York Telephone Company in Manhattan, Andy's Auto Body on Staten Island, and had a 25-year career in the New York State Department of Corrections in Coxsackie until his retirement. Allan was a devoted husband, father and "Gampa" to his beloved grandchildren. His most cherished times were those he spent with his family. He loved to attend his grandchildren's sporting events, concerts, recitals, and birthday parties. Holiday celebrations at his home were very special to him and loved by all. He very much enjoyed the simple things in life with his wife, such as going for walks and watching Hallmark movies. He also had a love of classic cars. He will be deeply missed. Allan is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Janice (Turan) Bentsen; their children, Karen Greene (Paul Bashant), and Allan Bentsen (Chrissy); grandchildren, Taylor Greene, Julie Greene and Landon Greene; brother, Robert Bentsen (Ann); brother-in-law, Jeffery Wheeler; niece, Melissa O'Connor, and many other extended relatives and friends. Allan was predeceased by his sister, Lori Wheeler. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 25, from 4-7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A funeral service to celebrate Allan's life will be held on Saturday, February 26, at 9 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
