Allan E. Hobbs made his solo Honor Flight to the gates of Heaven on Friday, April 11th, 2025.
Al was born on November 24, 1938, to Everett and Marie Hobbs. He is survived by his lovely bride of 64 years Eileen (Fleming) Hobbs.
His 6 children, sons and daughter in-laws, 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren filled his world:
Beth Hobbs, daughter Nicole, son Kody (Jennifer), son Kollin, daughter Haley (Colin) and their daughter Josie Jo. Al was preceded in death by Beth's husband Joe and her daughter Shawna.
Rick Hobbs (Jonna), son Jake (Gabriella), daughter Janelle (Justin) and their daughter Jadyn
Mike Hobbs (Chris Bosetti), son Alex, daughter Megan, son Fletcher, son Cooper
Sharon Tehan (Tim), daughter Lauren, daughter Kelsey
Brian Hobbs (Jodi), daughter Olivia, son Mason
Laura Kingsley (Kurt), daughter Emma, son Finnigan
Al was a resident and pillar of the community since he rooted his family in Oak Creek in 1964. He took great pride in serving his church and organizations such as the: Oak Creek Lions Club (Melvin Jones Fellowship award, Knight of Sight Fellowship award, Presidential Lifetime Service award) Oak Creek Jaycees and Oak Creek Community Center. Al became a recipient of the Oak Creek Citizen of the Year award in 2003.
He was relentless in his pursuit to serve his country and fulfill his dream of working at the 128th Wisconsin Air National Guard, so much so that he would pedal his way to the airbase every day after high school pestering them to be hired until one day he was finally told to report to work that coming Saturday. He was positioned as the base crew chief for the F89 Scorpion jet fighter as well as the night flying supervisor, ultimately ranking as MSGT Crew Chief and Flight Engineer serving at the 128th Air Refueling Wing from 1957-1994 at which point being transferred to the Retired Reserve. Al's active-duty overseas operations included Operation Creek Party (Germany), Operation Desert Shield (Saudi Arabia), Operation Desert Storm (Cairo, Egypt) and the Persian Gulf War. Honors received: Combat Readiness Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Flight Engineer Extraordinaire. He loved to reminisce of his time served, the places the air force took him and his amazing coworkers that were truly his family. Hacksaw Hobbs and Hobbicheck were nicknames that he picked up along the way and stuck with him for a lifetime.
Al was an insurance agent for American Family for nearly 30 years, where he continued to faithfully serve his family, friends and customers (who also became friends). He earned such accolades as Agent of the month and the J.D. Power award on multiple occasions.
Al loved the outdoors, especially fishing, feeding the birds and cutting his lawn but mostly just being with his family. Many great annual family vacations were spent and fond memories made in Eagle River as well as at their place in Orange Lake, FL.
We surely can hear Al/Dad/Grandpa/Great Grandpa saying his favorite words now in heaven "Life is Good"
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24th from 11:00am-1:00pm followed by Funeral Mass at 1:00pm at St. Stephen Church (1441 W. Oakwood Rd, Oak Creek, WI). At the family's request a private burial will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to: the Oak Creek Lions Club, the Oak Creek Community Center and Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.

I met Al when I joined the Air National Guard in 1990. It was immediately obvious that the full-timer staff there had a great deal of respect for him and his abilities. He was very approachable which didn´t always seem to be the case for young airmen, but I had it on good account that he was "one of the good ones". A line my father, who flew on 97s with Al as a Boom Operator would say about those he respected. This was obviously reenforced by the large gathering on Thursday.
I´m sorry I couldn´t express my families condolences to you all as I arrived a little late and Mass was soon to start. Thank you to the son that approached and commented on the warm feeling of seeing a flight-suit at the visitation. I have those same fond memories of my father coming home in his. I hope you continue to take comfort in that and the many other beautiful memories that I´m sure Al helped create in your lives. God Bless
