Allan Longo, age 89, passed away Saturday, October 28th, 2023. He was a graduate of Brush High School where he was inducted into the athletic hall of fame. He received a BS in Accounting and Finance at Ohio Wesleyan University, where he lettered in football all four years and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. Upon graduation, Allan entered the United States Air Force, earning the rank of captain as a pilot. After leaving the Air Force, he became an account executive with Merril Lynch brokerage firm. In 1959, Allan opened one of the first coin-operated laundromats and drycleaners in the state, expanding to multiple locations in Northeast Ohio. In addition to his retail locations, Allan owned and operated washing machines and dryers in residential buildings throughout the region and invested in commercial real estate. A long-time member of Catawba Island Club, Put-In Bay, and Barrington Golf Club, Allan loved being on his boat and the golf course. Allan spent many summers with his wife, Gloria, and their family travelling on their boat throughout the Great Lakes and the Eastern Seaboard, including Kiawah Island where they owned a home. Allan was also a partial owner of Rattlesnake Island, another one of his favorite places to spend summer weekends.
Allan is survived by his wife, Gloria; two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jennifer, and David; stepson, John; grandchildren, Cassandra, Sophia, Chloe, Joseph, Hunter, and Molly; step-grandchildren, Kristi Niles and Ryan Yost; and nephew and niece, Bryant and Lisa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Carrie; brother, Richard; stepdaughter, Nancy Palmieri; and step-granddaughter, Heather Palmieri.
Following a private service, a celebration of life for family and friends will be held at The Bertram Inn in Aurora on Saturday, November 4th from 12-3 p.m.
