Allan Oak, 80, passed away surrounded by family under the care Sanford Hospice House on Sunday, August 31, 2025. Allan was born on March 18, 1945, to Ernest and Beatrice (Hultin) Oak. He graduated from Park River High School in 1963. Allan attended Dakota Business College in Fargo from 1963 - 1965, where he met his future wife, Marlys. They were married on June 19, 1966. He joined the North Dakota Army National Guard and upon his return from training, they moved to Fargo in October 1967, along with their 3-month old daughter, Kimberle. Suzanne and Jeffrey joined the family later.

He enjoyed a very rewarding 37-year career with the Fargo Public Schools, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed serving on the Church Board at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (where he was a member for over 50 years) and being part of the MEATT (Men Eating and Talking Together) group; as a board member of the Fargo Public Schools Credit Union; and as a former President and long-time member of Valley Vintage Car Club. His pride and joy was his 1966 Plymouth VIP.

Allan enjoyed almost 40 years of camping with his family and friends, beginning with a pop-up camper for ten years, then later moving to a permanent spot at Little Toad Lake Campground for many years. Allan and Marlys enjoyed traveling - spending ten winters in Brownsville, TX, where he thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp and various seafood restaurants, since they were only 22 miles from South Padre Island. Several bus trips were also included in their travels, including a land/cruise trip to Alaska and the Inside Passage.

Last, but certainly not least, Allan very much enjoyed interacting with his nine grandchildren. He took his role as great-grandpa very seriously and his biggest fan is Ryker, who always asked, "Where is Grandpa?"

Allan is survived by his wife, Marlys; daughter, Kimberle; son, Jeffrey; brother, Lowell; son-in-law, Brian Hagelstrom; grandchildren, Kayla (Cole) Felland (Wren, Ryker, and Lainey), Matthew Evavold, Samantha (Jack) Vaughn (plus baby boy due in February), Noah, Levi, and Emily Hagelstrom, Kayla Roerich, Annalise (Carson Richards) and Breanna Oak; along with several nieces and nephews, and his precious little sidekick (dog), Sophie. Preceding him in death are his daughter, Suzanne; a son, Bruce (died at birth); parents, Ernest and Beatrice Oak; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Lloyd Monson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Sons of Norway Kringen Lodge 4-025.
