Connie L. Oak age 57 of Lake Park, MN died peacefully, surrounded by family on December 8, 2025 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Connie Lee Oak was born on January 31, 1968 in Minneapolis, MN to Gerald and Linda (Huss) Smith. Over the years her family lived in Redwood Falls, Montevideo, and Fergus Falls, before settling in West Fargo, ND. Connie graduated from West Fargo High School in 1986. She then attended the Alexandria Vocational College where she earned an associate’s degree in accounting. In October of 1990 Connie was united in marriage to Brian Oak in Alexandria, MN. They made their home in Colorado for a short time before moving to Cormorant Lake in rural Lake Park, MN. Connie worked for SJE Rhombus in Detroit Lakes for 8 years. She later moved into Lake Park, and in 2016 started working for Team Lab in Detroit Lakes, where she was currently employed. She absolutely adored and was so proud to work for Team Lab and truly considered everyone there her family. She was known in her community often taking on the “Momma Oak” role for many others whom she looked upon as family.

Connie was a real “Lake Girl”, loved being on the lake with family and friends, watching the sunset and enjoying a drink. She could often be found on the lake with her best friends Cathy and Jon Nelson. She loved a good round of Aggravation, and she was known as having a green thumb, evidenced by her many beautiful flowers and house plants. Every Sunday it was a given that Connie would be watching the Vikings and would make everyone touch her football before the game started. Connie enjoyed being around people, always lighting up a room with her loud laugh, vibrant smile, and bubbly personality. Among many other things, she will be remembered for her warm, comforting, and strong embraces. Her family was the most important part of her life, her grandkids being her pride and joy. She was a kid at heart and always made her grandchildren laugh.

She is survived by her sons, Dillon Oak, of Lake Park, MN; and Steve (Adria) Oak, of Detroit Lakes, MN; 7 grandchildren, Brekka, Bailey, Bryant, Harper, Kori, Anders, and Adele; Brian Oak, of Fargo, ND; and several beloved cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Steve Smith.

She will be terribly missed by all who knew her and this world will definitely be a quieter place without her.
