Wayne Jacobson Obituary

Wayne N. Jacobson, age 78, of Audubon, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on March 1, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Wayne was born on April 30, 1947, in Ada, Minnesota, to Walter and Beatrice Jacobson. He was the third of five children raised in a close and loving family. Wayne graduated from Audubon High School in 1965, proudly a Zephyr. Following graduation, he served in the National Guard from 1966 to 1972 and spent time working construction in Washington State before returning home to Audubon. On July 6, 1973, he married the love of his life, Sandra.

Throughout his life, Wayne built a remarkable career as an over-the-road truck driver, hauling everything from gravel to boats across the lower 48 states for more than 50 years. He was proud to earn the Million Mile International Transport Club Award with his trusty truck, number 6195. Wayne was also a member of the American Legion and proudly served as the Road Supervisor for Lake Eunice Township since 2013. His years hauling gravel also inspired him to open and operate the restaurant and bar known as Pit 611.

Retirement simply wasn’t part of Wayne’s plan. He was proud to be working at Driveway Services and was especially looking forward to returning this spring to drive his new red truck.

Outside of work, Wayne enjoyed woodworking, rebuilding tractors, yard work, hunting at the family deer camp, and building two family homes. He loved the company of others and never let a guest leave without offering a cold beverage and a warm welcome.

To his family, Wayne was the steady voice in every storm—the one everyone called when something broke, when advice was needed, or when life just didn’t make sense. Somehow, he always had the answer, and even when he didn’t, he made you feel like everything would be okay.

Wayne lived his life grounded in strong faith, devotion to his family, and unwavering loyalty to his friends. His strength held this family together, his wisdom guided them, and his love grounded them. He carried a positive outlook on life and encouraged those around him with his favorite saying: “Keep on trucking.”

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; daughter Stephanie (Jesse) Disse; sons Jeramie (Kathy) Jacobson and Jona (Georgia) Jacobson; grandchildren Samantha Goodwin, Todd Goodwin, Eli (Brianne) Disse, Hannah Jacobson, Ethan Jacobson, Lainey Jacobson, and Lauryn Jacobson; and great-grandchildren Todd, Mila, and Julian. He is also survived by his brothers Layden, Tom (Diane), and Parry (Sharon) Jacobson, along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Beatrice Jacobson, and his sister, Sandra Olson.

Wayne will be deeply missed, but his family will continue to honor his life by loving one another fiercely and showing up the way he always did.
