Allen Dale Baker
July 3, 1965 - February 23, 2024
CEDAR FALLS - Allen Dale Baker, 58, of Cedar Falls, died peacefully at the Martin Care Center on Friday, February 23, 2024. He was born July 3, 1965, the son of Forrest and Joyce (Kerkhoff) Baker.
Allen had Downs Syndrome and attended River Hills School in Cedar Falls until he was 21. Northstar Community Services cared for Allen until he broke his hip in October of 2020. Allen was in Deery Suites in Cedar Falls for rehab and then at EPI for a short time. Allen came to the Martin Care center in April of 2021.
Allen enjoyed playing drums, dancing, and being in the plays that Northstar Community Services put on. Allen was always a happy, loveable person. Everyone under Allen's care loved his hugs and easygoing nature. Allen will certainly be missed by all his family and caregivers.
Allen leaves behind his brothers: Larry D. Baker, Lee D. Baker (Sharon), Lynn D. Baker (Pearl), and step-brother, Pete Baker; his sister, Lillian McFall, and step-sister, Lynette Banks (Harry); nephews: John Baker (Connie), Steve Baker (Kimbra), Ryan Baker, Eric Baker (Lisa), and Alex Reed; nieces: Robin Baker, and Lauren Silk; and several grand nieces and nephews; and 2nd cousins: Lori Naaktgeboren, and Steve Graham.
He was preceded in his death by his parents, and stepfather, Leonard Sommers; sisters-in-law: Lauraine Baker and Coral Baker; grandmother, Lillian Hoel; aunt and uncle: Art and Lola Jorgenson; and cousins: Judy and Bud Graham.
Services will be held at Waterloo First United Methodist Church on Friday, March 8, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place in Elmwood cemetery.

Allen was an amazing person with a awesome personality. I will always remember his wonderful sense of humor, laugh and smile. Rest in peace buddy. You are very much missed.
