Allen Cancilla Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lady Family Mortuary & Crematory on Nov. 21, 2025.
Allen A. Cancilla, age 77, beloved husband of 58 years to Virginia (Wallace); loving father of Marc (wife Suzie) and Greg (wife Jil); devoted grandfather of Ashley, Mitch, Gavin, and Mia; cherished son of the late Anthony and May Cancilla; and dear brother of the late Jim Cancilla. He was also a treasured cousin and friend to many.
Allen was born on December 14, 1947, in San Jose, California, and graduated from Willow Glen High School. He married Virginia in 1966, and in 1968 he entered the Plumbers Union local 393 as an apprentice. He had a very successful 40+ yr career in the trade, ascending the ranks from apprentice to journeyman to foreman to head foreman and finally as a project manager overseeing all aspects of jobs. During that time, he was able to help and teach young apprentices the key aspects of being successful. He worked for Central Service, General Plumbing, and closed out his career at Therma.
Family was the center of Allen's life. Throughout their 58 years of marriage, he and Virginia raised two sons and welcomed four grandchildren, all of whom he adored. In the early years Allen liked to take the family on camping trips and enjoyed coaching the boys' sports teams. He loved attending family events and spending time working around his home constantly fixing things. He was always happiest when surrounded by the people he loved, both family and friends.
Allen passed peacefully on November 18, 2025, leaving behind a devoted family and a legacy of kindness, hard work, and unwavering dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A private mass and burial will be held for immediate family.

The Donald Cornwell Family would like to express our deepest sadness and condolences to Virginia and the family. Al was a valued employee of General Plumbing. My dad saw great potential in Al and recognized his eagerness to learn more and grow in his career. Decades later, our dad would talk about Al and where his skills and dedication had taken him. He also recognized that Al was a good and decent man, husband and father. As General Plumbing´s secretary and bookkeeper, I would like to personally say that Al was a great guy and I will always have fond memories when I think of Al and Virginia.

I was so happy to share Al´s memories of my father and the time he worked at General Plumbing at our dad´s funeral in October. His words perfectly dovetailed with the message I shared and made a poignant addition to the funeral.

I will be praying for Virginia and your family at this time of great loss and sadness.
Sincerely,
Donna Cornwell Bonne
