Allen R. Gerber, a hard worker and man of great Christian faith, passed away on January 6, 2024, in Goshen General Hospital at the age of 87. He was born on May 11, 1936, in Albion to Valentine and Alma (Mullett) Gerber. On June 6, 1960, Allen married Dolores (Hapner) Gerber; they enjoyed 55 years of marriage.

Allen began his career constructing silos. Later in life, he became the proud owner and operator of 3R Enterprise Trucking, a business he ran alongside his family. Allen's love for the open road took him to nearly every state as he transported goods. Remarkably, he kept his CDL active even into his 80s.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Allen served honorably in the US Army before being discharged. He enjoyed spending time with his large family and visits with friends over coffee in Syracuse. He found joy in these simple moments of connection and always made an effort to attend family reunions and the weekly coffee meetings.

Allen had a strong faith in Christ and was a founding member of People's Bible Church in Benton Twp. More recently, he was attending church at Salem Community Church in Wilmot.

Allen is survived by two sons: Ray (Melissa) Gerber of Milford and Ron (Stephanie) Gerber of Syracuse. He was a devoted grandfather to seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren all of whom he was quite proud of and who brought immense joy to his life.

Allen was preceded in death by his wife, affectionately known “Dee”, son, Ricky Gerber and by parents, Valentine Gerber and Alma Mullett Gerber. He was also preceded by his siblings: Judy, Nancy, Sally, Richard, Arnold, Jerry and John and by two infant sisters, Donna, and Irene.

Titus Funeral Home of Syracuse, located at 1001 S. Huntington Street, Syracuse, will be entrusted with arrangements. Visitation will be held there on Saturday, January 13, from 10 to 1pm. Beginning at 1 o'clock, a Life Celebration Funeral will be held with burial to follow at Solomons Creek Cemetery in Benton Township.
