Ramona Vorgert Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 7 to Jul. 13, 2023.
It is with great sadness that the family of Ramona Vorgert, 94, announces her passing on July 5, 2023. She died peacefully with family by her side at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville, TX from a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Ramona will be lovingly remembered by her son James Vorgert and daughter-in-law Mary Vorgert of Celeste, TX. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandson Captain Christopher Vorgert USAF, grand-daughter-in-law Captain Sarah Vorgert USAF, and great grandson Daniel Vorgert from Edwards Air Force Base in CA, and niece Christine Oden from Dayton, MN.

Ramona was predeceased by her parents Roman and Monica Vorgert of Perham, MN and her two sisters Claudia Vorgert of Sparks, NV and Joan, and her husband Ed Lanning, of Robinsdale, MN.

Ramona was born and grew up in Perham, MN. After music college she became a dedicated elementary music teacher for 30 years in the Washoe County School District in Nevada. She was an avid rock hound and jewelry maker and an active member of the Reno Gem and Mineral Society. Among other things Ramona chaired their annual Jackpot of Gems show for several years. She moved to Plano, Texas in 1991 to be close to her son's family and was an active member of both the Arlington and the Pleasant Oaks Gem and Mineral Clubs.

Ramona was the unofficial genealogist for several families in Sterns County, MN for decades. Ramona was a seasoned USA traveler. Even in her seventies Ramona traveled throughout the country with her beloved border collie Sparky in her travel trailer. Ramona would meet with family members to capture family stories and copy pictures.

Ramona was also a fine quilter/ seamstress and cook. Many will remember Ramona's hand painted angel Christmas cookies, her famous lasagne and her special chocolate chip cookies.

Ramona will be greatly missed. She was a brave lady and a sweet and fun loving person. Internment will occur in the family area at Norvell Township Cemetery in Michigan followed by a celebration of life gathering at a later date.
