Allen Ham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Haught Funeral Home from Oct. 15 to Oct. 16, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

He came to this world on September 7, 1950. The first born to Clifford Walter Ham and Dorris Irene Giffen Ham. They named him
Allen Joseph. Allen was a quiet child, reserved and joyful. He would retain this demeanor throughout his life with both friends and foe alike. He finished his fight with Lewy Body Dementia on October 15th, 2025, under the care of his loving family. He passed quietly in true Allen fashion. He had been a dedicated husband to his bride of choice, Cheryl Keene Ham, for 49 years, only death broke the bond.
He leaves behind his true legacy - a daughter Tonya Ham Kaplan (Dan), and a loving granddaughter, Skylar Michelle Keen. These truly were his girls.
Allen was a general contractor his entire life, first with his father's company then with his own, Allen Ham construction. After retirement, he worked as a home inspector, and as an assistant at Lowe's Building Supply.
In his early life, Allen had enjoyed motorcycle riding and was very skilled on his dirt bikes. He loved playing his piano and possessed a unique playing style that set him apart. He also played bass guitar and violin. He was active in his church Sharon Baptist purity, having a long-standing commitment with a band he helped create, The white Horse Band.
Allen's true passion could be found when he was on the water, where he enjoyed the open air and quiet solitude of nature. He would love to spend hours on the water where he would share his time with his special companion, Patches. In their hidden Cabin on the Homosassa River, they would spend hours fishing, enjoying their Solitude. When Allen lost Patches, he lost a big part of his heart, and things in Homosassa were never quite the same.
Allen is survived by his one sibling, Karen Ham Hair (Dennis), and several nieces and nephews. He was a friend who always gave his fair share to those he loved. Early in his childhood he developed a close relationship with two special ladies who helped shape his life and personality. Aunt Nellie Ham and Clara Courson were his special people, and he took his love for them to his final resting place.
If you didn't know how to appreciate his love and dedication, you may have missed Allen, but he was always there in that space that he owned, quiet, obedient and loving. His spot cannot be filled but we will work to make sure that if in his quietness, you missed him in life, we will stand in testament to his gentle soul.
Allen's battles are over, but his legacy will always be his commitment and dedication to those he loved. He was a true and gentle friend to all those who knew him.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, October 20, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sharon Baptist Purity, 3506 Young Road Plant City, FL 33565.
A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.
