Allen Dale MacKenzie

Allen Dale MacKenzie, 59, of Gouldsboro, Maine, passed away on November 28, 2025. Born on November 7, 1966, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Allen was the son of Roberta Frances (Shaw) MacKenzie and John Alexander MacKenzie, Jr.

From an early age, Allen was drawn to the water. He began lobstering as a teenager-returning home one day with a paycheck bigger than his father's, a moment that ended with him being kicked out of the house. Hard-working, independent, and skilled in many trades, Allen built a long career on the water before shifting into trucking and construction. Still, it remained his lifelong goal to return to fishing.

Allen was a character-someone who could bring lightness and ease into almost any situation. Known for his quick comebacks and effortless humor, he had a way of making people feel comfortable, welcome, and often amused without even trying. If Allen considered you a friend, you had someone who would show up, lend a hand, and do whatever he could to help.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Alexa MacKenzie, of whom he was endlessly proud. His admiration for her was unmistakable to everyone who knew him; he loved talking about her and celebrating her accomplishments.

Allen is also survived by his siblings: Terry MacKenzie, John MacKenzie, Tracy Brown, Cami MacKenzie, and Sue MacKenzie, as well as by his nieces and nephews.

Allen had a way of becoming family to those around him. Brooke Gebhardt, Kendra Ornellas, Willis Hutchins, Ian Thomas, and Sierra Leathers were among those who looked to him as a father or uncle figure. His support and presence made a meaningful difference in their lives.

To his family, friends, and all who crossed paths with him, Allen leaves behind memories of humor and steadfast friendship. His presence will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Allen's life will be held on Saturday, December 13, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the American Legion Raymond S. Doyon Post #69 in Somersworth, New Hampshire. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and honor him.
